At Path Mortgages, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, secure, and in control of their financial future.

Sadly, some people find themselves in situations where that’s not the case—particularly when experiencing domestic abuse or financial coercion. We understand that speaking up can be incredibly difficult, and we want you to know: we are here to support you.

What is financial abuse?

Financial abuse is a form of domestic abuse. It might involve someone else controlling your money, restricting your access to your own bank accounts or income, forcing you into debt, or preventing you from making financial decisions.

In many cases, this control can impact your ability to buy, sell, or remain in a home safely.

How we can help

Whether you’re trying to leave a difficult situation or regain control of your finances, we can support you by:

Offering safe, confidential advice
We will always respect your privacy. You can choose how and when we contact you—and we won’t leave voicemails, emails, or texts unless you tell us it’s safe to do so.

Holding private appointments
If you’re worried about a partner or someone else listening in, let us know. We can arrange secure appointments where you can speak to us alone, either in person or online.

Helping with separate or individual mortgage applications
We can guide you through the process of getting a mortgage in your name only, or discuss your options if you’re looking to leave a joint mortgage.

Providing flexible support
Everyone’s situation is different. We’ll work with you at your pace, explaining your options clearly and without pressure.

Signposting to trusted organisations
If you need additional support, we can connect you with charities and services who specialise in domestic abuse and financial control.

You’re not alone

At Path Mortgages, we’re committed to creating a safe space for anyone experiencing abuse—no matter your circumstances. If you’re worried about money, housing, or your ability to make independent financial decisions, we will listen without judgement.
